Difficulties for Female Athletes and Postitve changes to womens sport

Difficulties for female athletes http://www.shethepeople.tv/news/challenges-faced-by-female-athletes/ Women athletes are not particularly given the light of day unless they win big. Some people justify it by saying that women’s bodies are not built for sports, or that they are not into sport as much as men anyways. But people need to understand women need to work just as hard to come up in sports or even become moderately famous for their talent. Unfortunately, women are judged a lot by appearance, if a sportswoman is good looking its easier for her to take the limelight, say for someone who has more talent than her. Its reality and media Female athletes have a hard time keeping up whilst they have their period. Menstruation can bring along side effects such as fatigue, nausea, pain, depression and more. Week behind-28/11/17

I am a week behind this week so in order to catch back up I will do some extra work outside of the given lesson time to get back on schedule for next week. Which means I will be doing my research on male and female athletes outside of lesson time.

Financial Struggles for female athletes

https://consortiumnews.com/2015/07/12/struggling-for-womens-sports-equality/ Female athletes are paid a fraction of what their male counterparts earn, this is in both salaries and advertising fees. For an example the U.S. Women's team split $2 million for winning they cup but last year the U.S. men split $8 million for loosing the cup. The typical explanation is that women's football attracts fewer viewers than men. Another explanation to unequal pay is that in sponsorship, women's sports don't translate into the name recognition of men's sports so companies are less willing to pay large amounts to advertise with female athletes. The women's world cup brought in $17 million in sponsors this year but the men had $529 million is sponsors last year in the world cup according to the Wall Street Journal. As an individual level its the same. According to an ad industry survey of the highest 75 highest paif athletes in 2014, the first female on the list was numb...

Bullying Incidents in sport

https://www.ditchthelabel.org/sport-and-sexism/  Gemma Evans- unfortunately I have experienced sexism because of attitudes towards my gender. In the past people have said things such as “women shouldn’t play football – it’s like watching paint dry” or “ women give football a bad name because it’s so boring”. I  just laugh it off and tell them how I feel about the sport and their jealous remarks. DtL: Our research revealed that 35% of teenage girls believe their gender will have a negative impact on their career. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rowing/36546133 British Rowing looks into claims of bullying by senior coach Allegations were made by former GB rower Emily Taylor about Australian Paul Thompson chief coach of the GB women's rowing team. She claimed“Thomo was a massive bully and no one stood up to him,” the 29-year old revealed. “He could get away with it. He surrounded himself with yes-men and everyone was scared of him. He shouted at the coaches and the athletes and...

She was told a month previously that her contract on the Olympic podium programme wouldn't be renewed after she failed to qualify for the Olympic games women's team sprint. Vanish had criticised Shane Sutton to the public and British Cycling's head coach, Ian Dyer. British Cycling claims the decision to drop Vanish was due to performance, but the 25 year old claimed in the Daily Mail that Sutton had told her she was "too old". But Sutton has denied making these comments. Vanish, whose boyfriend was due to compete for Sutton in the BMX in Rio Olympics 2016, claimed that there was a macho culture within British ...
