What are the factors that contribute to the lack of participation in women’s sport?

Active people survey found the number of females participants in sport has increased by 250,000 since the launch of This Girl Can campaign in 2014. Now the difference between the number of men and women playing sport has narrowed to 1.55 million. Own personal Role Models As being a keen cyclist myself there are many professional female athletes I look up to. In the future I would like to be a professional cyclist, so I feel its important that I have someone to look up to and inspire to be like, as I feel it increases my motivation and I try to follow a pathway similar to what they have taken. The first significant role model to me is Lizzie Deignan. She is a British road and track cycling word champion from Otley in West Yorkshire.  She has won world championships and cups, Olympic medal winner and reigning Commonwealth games winner. She is significant to me as she is an extremely talented cyclist who has achieved a lot in her career. She also has a very good riding style and she is a similar kind of rider to what I am.
